NFTC Applauds Signing of Russia PNTR Legislation

December 14, 2012

Washington DC – The National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC) today released the following statement welcoming the President’s signing of H.R. 6156 – legislation establishing permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) with Russia.

“We welcome today’s signing of the Russia PNTR bill and applaud the Administration and Congress for taking bipartisan action to get this important legislation on the President’s desk and signed into law.

“Russia is the world’s ninth largest economy, and with PNTR now enacted, the United States will have greater access to this critical market, boosting U.S. exports, growing the U.S. economy and supporting American jobs.

“With Russia PNTR, U.S. companies, service providers, farmers and workers can now reap the benefits of Russia’s WTO membership and compete on a level playing field.”
