Re: Wednesday, July 20th Tax Lunch Forum

The next NFTC Tax Luncheon Forum to discuss current international tax developments will be held on Wednesday, July 20th, at 12:00 p.m. ET, at the NFTC offices, 1625 K Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC.  Giovanna Sparagna of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP will be our speaker.  Ms. Sparagna will discuss the recently released Dual Consolidated Loss Regulations.  Please join us for this informative discussion.

As a follow up to the June 14th Tax Lunch Forum, our speaker, Henry Louie, International Economist, Office of International Tax Analysis in the Office of Tax Policy, U.S. Treasury Department, reiterated his request to inform him regarding any instances of discrimination that your companies have encountered, and how, if at all, a tax treaty was able to resolve it.  As you recall, Mr. Louie discussed the work of a new OECD Working Party 1 subgroup that is examining the Non-discrimination Tax Treaty Article and related commentary.  Mr. Louie is the Chairman of the OECD working group.  The subgroup was organized in response to recent European Union court cases.

For those attending the meeting, lunch will be provided for $40, payable by check or credit card.  Please register in advance (by Monday, July 18th) so that we can make the necessary lunch arrangements or provide the conference call-in number to you.  For those who are outside the Washington Metropolitan area who cannot attend in person, a call-in number will be provided to you, however, you must return the attached response form to vmyers@nftc.org before the call-in information will be sent to you.  Please complete the attached response form to attend or participate in the conference call and return it by Monday, July 18th (note that no refunds will be made after Monday).

Note to conference call participants: To give our speaker time to eat lunch, the discussion will start at approximately 12:15pm; (i.e., the call in number will activate at 12:15pm).  Also, please put your phones on mute unless you are speaking and DO NOT PUT YOUR PHONE ON HOLD AT ANY TIME during the call.

I look forward to seeing you.
