RSVP by September 1 via email to chevents@sidley.com or phone 312-456-4223, During the first two weeks of September, Chicago will find itself at the center of the international trade world, as negotiators from the United States and eight other Pacific Rim nations meet to continue to craft an ambitious trade and investment pact called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). The TPP would create binding, enforceable disciplines on a wide range of government regulation, including food safety and other product standards, rules affecting cross-border acquisitions and trade in banking, insurance and other services, and the protection of intellectual property rights. TPP negotiators hope to make significant progress in advance of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders summit that President Obama will host in Hawaii in mid-November. Join members of Sidley's international trade practice and executives from leading global companies to discuss how trade negotiations taking place in Chicago and elsewhere in the world are likely to set the rules of engagement for US companies, whether they are seeking to compete globally for government contracts, sell financial services or secure patent protection for medical devices and other innovative products.
